Qualifications
Every session is delivered by an LTA-licensed professional with the credentials and experience to coach safely at the highest level.
Background
Playing at a high level isn't just a personal achievement — it means Joe can demonstrate every shot he teaches.
Joe has been playing tennis since 1997 and competing at national level for over two decades. He has played in Grade 1 and Grade 2 British Tour Qualifiers, reached Grade 3 finals, and won multiple Grade 4 events across England.
At the peak of his playing career, Joe reached top 230 in Britain and top 12 in Yorkshire — and more recently has competed in the Wimbledon Over 35s twice, reaching top 16 in Britain in that category.
As captain of Chapel Allerton Tennis Club, Joe led teams to titles in the Yorkshire National League and Leeds League, and remains an active competitor across the LTA circuit, which means his technical knowledge is constantly tested and current.
Outside tennis, Joe stays sharp across multiple sports including squash, racketball, table tennis, football, waterskiing and sailing — a well-rounded athlete who understands movement, fitness and the demands of competitive sport.

Philosophy
Joe's coaching philosophy is simple: lessons should be enjoyable, purposeful and tailored to the individual. Whether you're a complete beginner picking up a racket for the first time or an experienced player chasing a ranking, every session is structured around your specific goals.
Having competed at national level himself, Joe understands both the technical and the mental side of the game. He coaches technique that is demonstrable — not theoretical — and communicates it in a way that players of any age or background can understand and immediately apply on court.
He has coached everyone from 3-year-olds to an 87-year-old, in individual sessions, group lessons, school programmes and holiday camps — building each experience around what that person needs most.
